CLASSIFICATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF INFLATABLE RUBBER DAMS

I. By Structural Type (Main)

1. Pillow-type Rubber Dam: The most widely used type. The dam bag is pillow-shaped with end-end end-end plugs, and it is arranged perpendicular to the bank wall. It has the advantages of large span and low cost, and is mainly suitable for river projects with medium to low water heads. It is the preferred dam type for water storage and retention in conventional rivers.

2. Slope-type Rubber Dam: The bottom plate has sloping ends, and the dam bag has no end-end plugs, allowing for direct installation against the slope. After collapse, the dam body is flatter and will not obstruct water flow, making it suitable for channels and small rivers with gentle slopes.

3. Book-spine-type Rubber Dam: The dam body has a book-like cross-section with a rigid spine in the middle, and is formed using an integral vulcanization process. It has excellent vibration reduction and anti-vibration performance, stable overflow, and after collapse, it can fit tightly against the bottom with a height of only 3-5cm, providing excellent flood control.

4. Arched Rubber Dam: The bottom plate has an arched design, and the dam body is arc-shaped. Effectively widens the water passage surface, enhancing flood discharge capacity, while also boasting an aesthetically pleasing design, combining hydraulic functions with landscaping appeal. It is widely used in urban rivers and landscape water conservancy projects.

5. Pneumatic Shield Dam (Pneumatically Actuated Shield Gate): This type of dam combines flexible and rigid components, consisting of flexible airbags and a steel shield plate. The shield plate is raised by inflating the airbags to block water, and the dam collapses by releasing air. It exhibits outstanding impact resistance and freeze-thaw resistance, making it suitable for complex river environments with high water heads and abundant floating debris.

II. By Inflation Medium

1. Water-filled Rubber Dam: The most widely used type, with internal pressure controlled at 0.03~0.08MPa. It offers stable operation and low maintenance costs, making it the mainstream choice for conventional water conservancy projects.

2. Air-filled Rubber Dam: Offers rapid inflation and deflation, timely response, and good freeze-thaw resistance, making it suitable for frigid regions. Air-shield dams often utilize this inflation method.

3. Hybrid Rubber Dam: Primarily water-filled with supplementary air-filling, balancing operational stability and freeze-thaw resistance, suitable for regions with variable climates.

III. By Anchoring Method

1. Single-Anchored Rubber Dam: Anchored on one side at the bottom of the dam bag, simple structure, convenient construction, suitable for small and simple water conservancy projects.

2. Double-Anchored Rubber Dam: Utilizes bottom + upstream/downstream double-sided anchoring, resulting in a more secure dam body and stronger stability, often used in medium-sized water conservancy projects.

3. Wedge/Bolt Anchored Rubber Dam: Utilizes specialized fasteners for anchoring, adaptable to different geological foundations, reliable anchoring effect, and is a commonly used anchoring method.

IV. Special Types

1. Disturbance & Vibration Reduction Landscape Rubber Dam: Optimizes the dam structure to reduce vibration, balancing water conservancy functions with urban landscape needs, specifically designed for urban landscape rivers.

2. Steel Wire Mesh Rubber Dam: The dam bag has an internal steel wire skeleton, significantly improving tear and puncture resistance, suitable for rivers with harsh environments and abundant debris.
